Syncrude Upgrader Expansion 1 (UE-1)
The Upgrader Expansion project (UE-1) was a major expansion of Syncrude’s oil sands facility undertaken to increase capacity to 350,000 barrels per day. North American Construction Group (NACG) provided construction management services and supplied personnel and equipment for the project’s deep undergrounds, piling and site grading. In addition, NACG also provided direct hire forces to complete various
other aspects of the project, with manpower peaking at over 600 personnel. Construction included installation of oily water sewer lines, fire water lines, potable water lines, tank pads, ditching, site grading and trenching.
